(John McDonnell - THE WASHINGTON POST)
The Capitals recalled defenseman Dmitry Orlov from the AHL’s Hershey Bears this morning, perhaps in search of a spark on the blue line after last night’s 7-1 thrashing in Toronto.
The 20-year-old Russian prospect impressed the Capitals in rookie camp and got to stay on longer for training camp so coaches could get a better look at him. He’s recorded nine points (four goals, five assists) in 15 games with Hershey and is tied for the team lead among defensemen in points.
Orlov, who will wear number 81 for Washington, will participate in practice at 12:30 p.m. today at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
