Capitals send Cody Eakin to Hershey

(Greg Fiume - GETTY IMAGES)
The Capitals have sent Cody Eakin to the AHL’s Hershey Bears in a move to get the 20-year-old forward more playing time during the All-Star break.

While Matheiu Perreault commanded the spotlight Tuesday night with his first career hat trick, Eakin’s goal in a 5-3 victory over defending Stanley Cup champion Boston was his first since Dec. 5.

“Kind of a lucky one,” Eakin said of the goal, which caught Bruins netminder Tuukka Rask off guard. "It’s a nice feeling obviously.”

Hershey has two games during the break, so Eakin will get to keep playing and can easily be recalled to be back when the Capitals practice Monday at 2 p.m.

More to come soon on last night’s win over the Bruins, so stay tuned.
