Coach Dale Hunter sticks with the same lines for Capitals’ practice

Capitals’ practice is underway Thursday before the team heads off to New Jersey later this afternoon and Coach Dale Hunter has opted to keep the lines intact from the previous contest.

Hunter said that he mixed up the line combinations in order to get a better match up against the Predators on Tuesday. It’s not surprising to see those groups together for practice, though, considering all of the units appeared to find some success at even strength to the tune of a 4-1 win against Nashville.

The players are in colored jerseys, which signifies the first, second, third and fourth lines. Alex Ovechkin, is wearing grey as part of the second line.

Those lines are:

Johansson-Backstrom-Semin
Ovechkin-Laich-Brouwer
Chimera-Halpern-Ward
Hendricks-Perreault-Knuble
*Jay Beagle took part in drills with the fourth line

--Mike Green worked out with strength and conditioning coach Mark Nemish prior to the start of practice for roughly a half hour and then remained on the ice for the first 10 minutes of regular practice . The defenseman, who has missed 18 consecutive games with a strained right groin muscle, has been taking part in drills but still appears to be favoring his right leg and not putting much weight on it.

--All seven healthy defensemen and both goaltenders were on the ice as well.
