Dmitry Orlov takes another puck to the face

In the third period of Sunday’s 4-1 loss to Boston, Capitals rookie defenseman Dmitry Orlov was struck under the visor by a deflected puck. It was the second straight afternoon in which Orlov was hit in the face by a puck.

“He broke his nose last game,” Coach Dale Hunter said, referring to Saturday’s 3-0 victory in Montreal. “He got another puck there.”

Against the Bruins, Orlov was squaring up to the shooter when Shawn Thornton’s  shot changed directions after tipping off teammate Roman Hamrlik’s stick.

I don’t think Orlov returned to the game, but the official time-on-ice tracker credited him with a 10-second later in the third period.

“He’s fine,” Hunter said. “But his eyes were watering too much to play.”
