Caps winger Eric Fehr said he spoke to investigators for about 10 minutes yesterday regarding his visits with Douglas Owen Nagel, the Reston chiropractor arrested at his home in Reston and charged with obtaining steroids and other illegal performance-enhancing drugs.
The video is above, and here's an abbreviated transcript:
On what the questions were like: "They just asked me if I had gone to Dr. Nagel for any work of any kind; I told them I'd been there for my back a number of years ago. They asked me when the last time was I was over there; I said three years ago, so it was pretty simple questions. It wasn't a big deal. ...
I don't think [the investigators] were really looking at our players. I think they were more interested in what the doctor's done and who he's giving stuff to, so I don't think it was the players that were really targeted."
On his impressions of Nagel: "It was a really long time ago -- it was probably three years ago that I went to see him. I don't remember a whole lot about his office, so obviously I didn't think he was too shady; I was just going there to get my back fixed."
On whether or not he was surprised by the investigation: "We were told earlier on in the day that he'd been arrested and that the sheriffs and everybody would be coming to interview us, so we had a bit of a heads up, but that's the first I'd heard of it in a long time, so we were definitely surprised. ...
I didn't really have anything to hide, so I had no problem going in there and telling them my side of the story. The sooner we can get that behind us, the sooner we can play hockey and realize that we have a big game today."
More to come from Matt Bradley and Shaone Morrisonn on their interviews.
