Jay Beagle, Matt Hendricks will make trip with Capitals

All of the Capitals — except Mike Green, who is out of town visiting a specialist about his strained right groin muscle — were on the ice for practice Wednesday. And they will all be joining the team as it departs for a road trip to Winnipeg this afternoon, including injured players Jay Beagle and Matt Hendricks.

Beagle will make his first trip with the team since suffering a concussion back on Oct. 13 in Pittsburgh. While the fourth-line forward is not expected to play, accompanying Washington on the trip allows him to continue skating with the team and further his recovery.

Beagle, 26, has been skating regularly and was out on the ice at KCI for nearly an hour Wednesday. He’s still not cleared for contact, but has been able to gradually increase his workload and heart rate.

After missing a third straight game with a right knee injury, Hendricks is also expected to make the trip with the Capitals. The gritty winger has skated four consecutive days but Coach Dale Hunter said Hendricks is still “day to day.”

The Capitals used the same lines in practice that they have the past three games. The combinations are listed below:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Semin
Brouwer-Johansson-Halpern
Chimera-Laich-Ward
Eakin/Hendricks-Perreault-Knuble
