Mike Knuble will miss Game 5

Coach Bruce Boudreau said the Capitals will be without veteran right wing Mike Knuble on Saturday for Game 5, a potential series-clinching game, of this Eastern Conference quarterfinal against the Rangers.

It will be the second consecutive contest Knuble has missed since suffering a suspected injury to his right hand. In Game 3, Knuble was struck by a shot from Mike Green on the hand immmediately prior to scoring a goal early in the third period. Replay footage showed Knuble take his glove off to examine his hand prior to celebrating with teammates.

Knuble, who is day-to-day, said Thursday he expects to play again this postseason, took part in a conditioning workout for the second straight day at KCI this morning, prior to Washington’s regular practice.
