Morning skate notes from Newark

Before today's live Q&A gets going at 1 p.m. here are some quick notes from Prudential Center where the Capitals are preparing to take on the New Jersey Devils:

--Michal Neuvirth will make his 18th start of the season and second career appearance against the Devils tonight, but Coach Bruce Boudreau did say that Braden Holtby will play later this week.

"Every goalie has a bad outing now and again, you don't just give up on him. He'll play again," Boudreau said about wanting to give Holtby a chance to put his shaky start against Atlanta last Friday in the rear-view mirror.

Johan Hedberg will get the call in net for the Devils as the team is without cornerstone goaltender Martin Broudeur, who is sitting out at least 10 days with a bruised right elbow suffered on Nov. 3 after taking a shot from Chicago's Patrick Kane.

--D.J. King and Tom Poti were taking part in the scratches skate, so it looks like they'll be out. There's a good chance the line combinations will be similar to what the Capitals used Saturday against Philadelphia.

--Mike Knuble is not on the trip after taking a puck to the face in the second period of the Capitals' game Friday in Atlanta.
