Nicklas Backstrom: 'I felt okay'

Star center Nicklas Backstrom was one of the first players off the ice this morning, but assured reporters that he will be able to suit for tomorrow's playoff opener against Montreal.

Backstrom confirmed that an illness, not an injury, caused him to miss yesterday's practice.

"I'm feeling better," Backstrom said. "I felt better than yesterday. I felt okay. I was sick. I was laying down in bed all day."

Asked if he'll be able to play, he said: "I'm getting ready for tomorrow. I'll be fine for [the game] and I'm excited for it."

He declined to go into details about his illness.
