No Hendricks, Halpern against Blackhawks

The Capitals will use most of their regular season lineup this evening in the preseason finale against the Chicago Blackhawks at Verizon Center, but with two exceptions among the forwards.

Matt Hendricks will not play tonight after leaving practice Saturday with an undisclosed injury. Coach Bruce Boudreau said he’s not worried about the gritty winger not being ready for the start of the regular season.

Meanwhile, Jeff Halpern has been given today’s game off. The 35-year-old center has appeared in three preseason games already.

*As noted in a previous post about Dmitry Orlov making his fourth preseason appearance, Jeff Schultz will not be in the lineup against Chicago tonight.

*In another interesting tid-bit from Boudreau’s pregame comments, expect to see Troy Brouwer skating with Alex Ovechkin when the season begins next Saturday against Carolina.

The full lineup and an open thread will be posted closer to game time.
