Faceoff: 7 p.m., Bell Centre | TV: CSN+ | Radio: 1500 AM
Earlier today, Coach Bruce Boudreau sent some waves through the Canadian media with his comments regarding the pre-game fan protest outside the Centre Bell aimed at headshots in the NHL following Zdeno Chara’s hit on Max Pacioretty. If you missed his comments, they’re below with reaction from TSN, The Globe and Mail, Puck Daddy and our own Dan Steinberg.
“Don’t come,” Boudreau said with a snort and a laugh. “If you don’t like it, don’t come to the games. I think the players realize they could get hurt. They don’t want to do it. But unless you’ve played and see what goes on at the speed of the game, you’re not gonna be able to argue with it. And listen, I don’t want to get into any controversy, but if that was Hal Gill that hit David Krejci, I don’t think there’d be a protest going on here today.”
On to the lineup, which based on warm-up should look like the following against the Canadiens:
Forwards
Ovechkin-Laich-Semin
Sturm-Johansson-Knuble
Chimera-Beagle-Fehr
Hendricks-Gordon-Bradley
Defense
Alzner-Carlson
Schultz-Wideman
Sloan-Hannan
Goal
Holtby
Neuvirth
Scratches: John Erskine, Jason Arnott (undisclosed injury), Nicklas Backstrom (fractured thumb), Semyon Varlamov (knee) and D.J. King.
