Open thread: Capitals vs. Hurricanes

logologo

Tomas Vokoun makes a ninth consecutive start and appears to have solidified his standing as Washington’s No. 1 netminder heading into this meeting against Carolina. While this may appear to be just another mid-January game a win would catapult the Capitals to the top of the Southeast Division and third place in the Eastern Conference while a loss would leave them looking up in ninth.

Faceoff: 5 p.m., Verizon Center | TV: CSN | Radio: 1500 AM

Based on warmup here is what the lineup should look like against the Hurricanes:

Forwards
Ovechkin-Johansson-Semin
Knuble-Laich-Brouwer
Chimera-Halpern-Ward
Hendricks-Eakin-Beagle

Defense
Alzner-Carlson
Orlov-Wideman
Hamrlik-Kundratek

Goal
Vokoun
Neuvirth

Scratches: Mathieu Perreault, Jeff Schultz and John Erskine.

Injured reserve: Nicklas Backstrom (concussion) and Mike Green (groin) on LTI.
