Ovechkin, Semin among those not on the ice for Capitals’ morning skate

There are several players missing from the Capitals morning skate ahead of tonight’s tilt against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Alex Ovechkin, Alexander Semin, Joel Ward and Dennis Wideman are all not taking part in the session and I hope to get an update on each of their statuses once the team is off the ice. Ward left Sunday’s practice because he was not feeling well, according to Coach Bruce Boudreau, but the other three players all finished the previous day’s workout.

Speculation that Semin could be a healthy scratch against the Coyotes began Sunday when the Russian winger was working with the fourth line as opposed to his usual spot among the top-six forwards.

But when asked about the possibility that he would scratch the 27-year-old earning $6.7 million on Sunday, Boudreau didn’t tip his hand saying only “Infer what you want.”

--Mike Green (strained right groin muscle) and Jay Beagle (concussion) are also not on the ice this morning.
