Report: KHL’s Dynamo would try to sign Alex Ovechkin in event of NHL lockout

(Luis Alvarez - AP)

KHL team Dynamo Moscow will reportedly try to sign Alex Ovechkin if the NHL enters a lockout.

“We will talk with Ovechkin. It will be up to the head coach,” Dynamo GM Andrey Safronov said, according to RIA Novosti.

The Capitals captain played with Dynamo for four seasons, including the 2004-05 NHL lockout, which would have been his rookie season in Washington.

The NHL owners and players have until Sept. 15 to agree on a new labor deal, and based on recent meetings, a work stoppage seems likely.
