Semyon Varlamov out tonight vs. Bruins

Coach Bruce Boudreau said yesterday that goalie Semyon Varlamov would play the entire preseason game tonight against the Boston Bruins at Verizon Center, but it appears that's no longer the case. Via the Caps' Mike Vogel:

Last minute change for # Caps in goal: Michal Neuvirth starts tonite, backed up ny Dany Sabourin. More on the blog in a bit.

Varlamov, of course, spent a great deal of last season trying to overcome nagging injuries before returning in February, but it's not clear why the Caps made the switch tonight. More to come soon.

Update, via Mike Vogel: When asked why Varlamov would not play, Boudreau said: "Maintenance, general maintenance. Not feeling 100 percent."
