The NHL announced this morning that Game 3 at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa Bay will start at 6:30 p.m. So mark your calendars. The game will be broadcast locally on Comcast SportsNet and nationally on Versus. The full series schedule can be found here.
--The morning skate has wrapped up KCI and of the players likely to participate in Game 1, Alex Ovechkin is the only one not taking part in the light workout. This is not unusual, as morning skates are optional and over the course of the season Ovechkin will often opt to not skate early on game days.
--No other player that is expected to play missed the morning skate and it’s likely that the lines will be the same tonight as they have been the past week in practice.
--Mike Knuble (suspected hand injury) and Dennis Wideman (leg hematoma and compartment syndrome) are on the ice with the scratches and black aces.
While neither Knuble nor Wideman will play in Game 1, Coach Bruce Boudreau reiterated that they are making progress.
“I bet there’s a good chance he’ll be back before the series is over,” Boudreau said of Knuble. “And everybody else is looking good too, Dennis Wideman looking good too. We’ve got to get them into team practice obviously before they’re going to go. They’ve been off a while so they’ve got to get their conditioning back up.”
The other players working out with the assistant coaches are Semyon Varlamov, Sean Collins, Tyler Sloan, Jay Beagle, D.J. King, Braden Holtby, Mathieu Perreault, Patrick McNeill and Steve Pinizzotto.
