Tampa Bay plans to be ‘thorn’ in Capitals’ side again

Last year a rivalry began to grow between the Capitals and Lightning as the latter climbed up the standings, creating a roadblock in Washington’s path to the top of the Southeast Division. Then that rivalry took on a new tenor when Tampa Bay knocked the Capitals out of the second round of the playoffs with a four-game sweep.

Don’t expect things to become any more amicable between the two clubs, if Lightning Coach Guy Boucher’s comments to the Tampa Tribune are any indication.

“Last year we showed that we were the new kids on the block for them and they are used to being first,’’ Lightning head coach Guy Boucher said. “We were kind of in their way as a thorn in their side and this year we are planning on being a thorn in both sides, hopefully.’’

Via Tampa Tribune’s Erik Erlendsson, Dwayne Roloson is expected to start in net. Other lineup notes for Tampa Bay are that Bruno Gervais will make his debut with the Lightning tonight and Mattias Ritola will be in the lineup as well. Blair Jones, Tom Pyatt and Matt Gilroy are out.
