Veteran netminder Tomas Vokoun will get the nod in net tonight as the Capitals kick off this week of road games in Tampa.
This appearance will mark his 13th start in the past 15 games, and depending on how Vokoun fares against the Lightning don’t be surprised if Coach Dale Hunter opts to go with the 35-year-old Czech again Wednesday against the Panthers.
A few quick notes from the morning skate here at the Tampa Bay Times Forum:
— Joel Rechlicz came off the ice with the players who expect to be in the evening’s lineup.
This will mark Rechlicz’s first apperance in an NHL game since April 11, 2010 when he played 3 minutes and 34 seconds for the Islanders in a game against Pittsburgh. In 23 career NHL games prior to tonight’s game, Rechlicz’s average ice time was 4:18.
— Based on who was taking part in extra work with suspended Alex Ovechkin and presumed backup netminder Michal Neuvirth, Jay Beagle and Jeff Schultz will be the healthy scratches against the Lightning.
— PSA: Tonight’s game starts at 7:30 p.m.
— Here’s what the lineup will likley be, but check back closer to game time for an update following warmups:
