Troy Brouwer misses second straight practice; Mike Green skates briefly

Mike Green was on the ice at KCI Thursday morning for 35 minutes before he headed off to the dressing room, but that stint included only about 10 minutes of formal practice with the rest of the Capitals.

The defenseman was being rotated in on drills and didn’t look like his fluid-skating self, so at this point it’s unlikely he would be ready to face the Hurricanes Friday night.

Meanwhile, Troy Brouwer missed a second straight practice after suffering a right shoulder injury late in Tuesday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks.

According to a team source, there was no structural damage to Brouwer’s shoulder. The winger is expected to be able to play this weekend, but his status for Friday’s game is questionable.

With Brouwer’s absence from practice, the Capitals rolled out a different set of line combinations on Thursday.

Here’s what the lineup looked like:

Forwards
Ovechkin-Backstrom-Semin
Eakin-Johansson-Perreault
Chimera-Laich-Ward-King
Hendricks-Halpern-Knuble

Defense
Hamrlik-Carlson
Erskine-Wideman
Schultz-Alzner
