Coach Adam Oates tinkered with the lines ahead of Thursday’s game against Montreal, hoping to find more of a spark on the top unit by adding Wojtek Wolski to the left side. That move send Matt Hendricks to the second line and Marcus Johansson, who struggled in the first two games of the season, down to the fourth.

Meanwhile, Michal Neuvirth will get the nod in net. But regardless of all the lineup alterations, the Capitals can’t forget about the fundamentals as they look to move forward as colleague Barry Svrluga wrote.
