Metro will extend service for late Capitals playoff games

Metro will stay open an extra hour for any Capitals’ playoff games that run later than 11 p.m. on days that the subway system would usually shut down at midnight,  Metro and Verizon Center announced Tuesday evening.

Should a Capitals playoff game still be in progress at 11 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays, Metrorail will extend service at the Gallery Place, Metro Center and Judiciary Square stations. Metro is open until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

In the event of late-night service, fans would need to enter the Metro system by 12:45 a.m. to make the last trains.

Here are the entrances that will be open late at each station:

  • Gallery Place: all entrances
  • Metro Center: 11th and G Street entrance
  • Judiciary Square: F Street entrance
