Steve Oleksy makes his Michigan homecoming as an NHLer Friday night in his first appearance against the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. He played here a few times as a kid for squirt-level playoffs, but nothing quite compares to suiting up here in front of friends and family as a member of the Capitals.

“It’s going to mean a lot. Any time you grow up going to The Joe and watching a lot of Red Wings games and things like that you see it from the other side of things,” Oleksy said. “It’s a great feeling. It’s a great accomplishment. I’m really looking forward to it and it’s something i’m excited about.”

Braden Holtby (8-6-0, 2.72 goals-against average, .920 save percentage) gets the nod for the Capitals and will be opposed by Jimmy Howard (5-5-5, 2.67 goals-against average, .910 save percentage) for the Red Wings.

Discuss the game right here and pass the time before puck drop with these reads.
