DETROIT — The Capitals and Red Wings kick off a home-and-home Friday night with the encore performance to follow Sunday afternoon at Verizon Center. Mike Green will sit out Friday’s tilt after suffering a possible concussion when he was smashed into the boards by Columbus forward Boone Jenner.

Michal Neuvirth (10-3-5, 2.79 goals-against average, .915 save percentage) gets the nod in Detroit and will be opposed by Jimmy Howard (9-12-8, 2.64 goals-against average, .916 save percentage).
