Alex Ovechkin scored a tying goal in the second period Sunday, paving the way to Russia’s 5-2 win over Finland in the IIHF World Championships in Minsk, Belarus.

The victory and Ovechkin’s timely offense came a week after the star winger sprained his right knee in a preliminary-round game against Germany. While Ovechkin missed one game with the injury, he’s played in Russia’s three final games of the tournament since.

On his goal against Finland, Ovechkin cut in front of the net where he received a pass and shot a backhander past Pekka Rinne.

Via the IIHF, here’s are some of Ovechkin’s postgame comments (in English) from the 45 second mark to 1:20.

Here are a few more photos of the celebration as well.
