Will Ferrell and friends on the red carpet: Video from Mark Twain Prize

Will Ferrell — the man who has given us such beloved characters as the cheesy newsman who drinks Scotch on the air (“Anchorman”), the NASCAR driver who prays very specifically to baby Jesus (“Talledega Nights”) and that guy in “Wedding Crashers” who yells about meatloaf — was honored Sunday night with the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

As is standard procedure on such occasions, numerous Ferrell friends and colleagues participated in the ceremony, which will air Oct. 31 on PBS and is described in this article by Post colleague Hank Stuever. Several of those friends and colleagues — including Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Conan O’Brien and Andy Samberg — also walked the red carpet beforehand and paused to talk about their favorite Ferrell roles (Rudd apparently loves the guy who yells about meatloaf), as well as the bar that the visionary legend Ron Burgundy has set for those still attempting to emulate his jazz-flute-playing prowess.(Ferrell also stopped by briefly, allowing me to bask in the beauty of his velvet blazer and bow tie.)

Video of those interviews can be viewed after the jump.

When she isn’t at a movie theater or writing about movies, Jen Chaney is ... um ... probably at home, watching a movie.
