Katherine Jackson says she was incommunicado during recent trip; Jimmy Fallon as Oscar host?

A morning mix of entertainment headlines...

Katherine Jackson: A guardian of her grandchildren once more. (Nick Ut - Associated Press)

Just when you thought there would be peace and harmony in the Jackson family ... court papers revealed Thursday that Katherine Jackson was unable to communicate with the outside world during her recent visit to an Arizona resort, a time period when some family members reported her missing. In the documents, the Jackson family matriarch said the phone in her room was not working and neither was the television. “One morning I woke up to the sound of the television,” she says in the papers, according to the Associated Press. “While there was no picture, I heard a broadcast that stated I was missing.” The information was released as part of a court proceeding that reinstated Katherine Jackson as guardian of Michael Jackson’s children, Paris, Prince and Blanket. Her nephew, TJ Jackson — who has been given guardianship while Katherine Jackson was “missing” — was named as a co-guardian. (Associated Press)

The L.A. Times reported Thursday that Jimmy Fallon is in talks to serve as the host of the 2013 Academy Awards, with Lorne Michaels potentially acting as executive producer. Two problems with the story: according to the Times, ABC has objected to Fallon as host, since he has a talk show on NBC that competes with ABC’s funny man, Jimmy Kimmel. Second, according to Deadline, any talks with Fallon that may have occurred have now ceased because they were initiated by outgoing Academy president Tom Sherak, whose term ended earlier this week. He has been replaced by Hawk Koch, who now has the responsibility of dealing with the Oscar producer/host question, a question that may or may not involve Fallon. Got all that? (L.A. Times; Deadline)

Snoop Dogg — pardon me, Snoop Lion — would like to be a judge on “American Idol.” Because apparently, he heard there’s money in it. (AP)

Speaking of name changes, Lily Allen is now officially going by Lily Rose Cooper to reflect her married name, and the name she uses on Twitter. Keep that in mind the next time someone asks you who sings “The Fear.” (BBC)

Hey, guess what? There are more photos of Tom Cruise playing with daughter Suri Cruise during their Disney World vacation. (Us Weekly)

Katy Perry and John Mayer reportedly dating .... not sure how to feel about that one. (Us)

Ron Howard’s “The Dark Tower” adaptation is not dead yet. Akiva Goldsman has turned in a new draft of the script to Warner Bros., the studio considering signing on to the massive project, based on Stephen King’s series of books. And Russell Crowe is one possibility as the guy to play Roland Deschain now that Javier Bardem backed out. (Vulture)

Would you like to watch a sweet video in which a father returns from a stint in Afghanistan dressed as a Jedi, all in an effort to make his son happy? Of course you would. Note: When Princess Leia, Chewbacca and various other “Star Wars” characters show up, this child is surprisingly unfazed.
