‘30 Rock’ spoofs Clint Eastwood ‘Halftime in America’ ad (Video)

Stacy Keach on “30 Rock.” (NBC)
“30 Rock” may have been a little late to the game, but its spoof of Chrysler’s “Halftime in America” Super Bowl ad was worth the wait.

Clint Eastwood starred in the original, much buzzed about ode to Detroit/car commercial. “It’s halftime in America, too. People are out of work and they’re hurting,” Dirty Harry said, his voice gritty and full of hope. “And they’re all wondering what they’re gonna do to make a comeback.”

Instead of Eastwood, Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) enlisted Stacy Keach to promote his new KouchTown Couches, which turned out to be pretty terrible and uncomfortable.

“When did gum get so soft?” Keach asked aggressively, making the case for hard couches. “That’s why I buy Bazooka Joe gum. It’s like chewing a mountain that someone shot a freeze ray into.”

Watch the KouchTown ad, which has one NSFW word at the 53 second mark, and the Chrysler ad it spoofs below.
