Adele to undergo throat surgery but does not have cancer, contrary to Twitter rumors

Adele. (Matt Sayles - Associated Press)
Adele’s fans were singing the blues last week, as the soul diva’s record label announced that her remaining 2011 dates had been canceled because of throat problems.

“She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected,” Columbia Records said in a statement.

As if the truth weren’t bad enough, rumors that the singer had cancer began circulating on, where else, Twitter, according to the New York Daily News. They are thankfully not true.

“We would like to reiterate that Adele is to undergo surgery for a hemorrhaged” vocal cord, her rep said. “All reports regarding any other condition are 100 percent false.”
