Aishwarya Rai welcomes baby girl; Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Bill Maher spar on ‘The View’

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan , Bollywood actress and former Miss World, has given birth to a baby girl, her husband Abhishek Bachchan announced Wednesday on Twitter.

“Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Both Aishwarya and the baby are doing great and taking some much needed rest,” he tweeted. ”I'm trying my level best to get rid of this caffeine high and get some sleep too. Don't think it'll work. TOO EXCITED!!!!”

Rai’s father-in-law, actor Amitabh Bachchan, said on Twitter he was “ecstatic” about his grandaughter, who the BBC dubbed “Bollywood’s new royal princess.” (AP)
