‘Amazing Spider-Man’ cast has awkward visit to ‘Today’

The cast and crew of “The Amazing Spider-Man” visited the “Today” show Monday morning, where they talked briefly about the film while standing in a horseshoe formation on an empty set. It was awkward.

For reasons unknown, Rhys Ifans, director Marc Webb, Denis Leary, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield and producer Matt Tolmach were asked to stand opposite “Today” people Natalie Morales, Al Roker, guest co-host Willie Geist and Ann Curry. It appeared that a rumble and/or dance-off was set to begin at any moment.

The allegedly outgoing Curry kicked off the interview saying, “We’re actually gonna move in, so it’s a little less awkward.” But nothing could save the segment, which kicked off New York City’s Spider-Man week, from being hilariously uncomfortable to watch.

If you can stomach the awkwardness, watch the interview, as well as a one-on-one sit down with Curry and Garfield, below.
