Arnold Schwarzenegger discusses affair on ‘60 Minutes’; Justin Bieber rebounds after vomiting onstage

A morning mix of entertainment headlines . . .

Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared on Sunday’s “60 Minutes” to promote his new memoir, “Total Recall,” the same memoir he’ll discuss at a Washington Post live event tomorrow in the District and that the Post’s Vernon Loeb recently reviewed. The Terminator explained many of the mistakes he made during his marriage to Maria Shriver. Among the things he admitted: that he definitely had an affair with Brigitte Nielsen, had open heart surgery without telling Shriver beforehand, didn’t tell Shriver he was running for governor until a few days before announcing his political plans and — as was already known — didn’t let her know that he had fathered a child with their housekeeper, Mildred Baena , until five or six years after he had realized it himself. Schwarzenegger said he didn’t know that the boy, Joseph, was his son until he recognized a resemblance when Joseph was around seven or eight. “It just appeared to me there was something off, that he started looking like me,” Schwarzenegger tells Lesley Stahl. “So that’s when I kind of got it, that — it was never discussed. But, I mean, I put the things together here.”

In addition to being a weird weekend for Lindsay Lohan , this also was a weird weekend for concerts and concert-tour-related issues. Let’s start with Justin Bieber , who recovered on Sunday, the second night of his world tour, after vomiting onstage during Saturday’s opener in Phoenix. After a brief break, he reportedly continued performing, then had to pause again offstage before ultimately returning to finish his “Baby”-singing duties. Before you go, “Wow, Bieber upchucked onstage? That’s so rock’n’roll,” please know that this happened, according to the Biebs, because he drank milk before the show. Which is the basis for the worst Got Milk? ad ever. (Zap2 It)

Next on the concert-and-illness circuit: George Michael, who announced that he is canceling his tour of Australia due to anxiety brought on by the severe pneumonia he had last year. “By way of explanation all I can say at this time is that since last year’s illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience,” Michael wrote on his Web site. “They recommended complete rest and the type of post traumatic counselling which is available in cases like mine but I’m afraid I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself.” (Associated Press; Georgemichael.com)

It doesn’t seem that a whoopsy tummy or anxiety was what caused Jack White to walk offstage 45 minutes into his Saturday night set at Radio City Music Hall. According to Reuters, the former White Stripes frontman may have been annoyed that some audience members were using camera phones or that they weren’t responsive enough. In any case, the crowd was mad and some of them returned their merch and banged on the outside of White’s tour buses to express their frustration. Did we mention that there was a full moon this weekend? (Reuters)

Young Jeezy and Rick Ross and their respective posses got into a melee backstage at the BET Hip-Hop Awards. No one was injured but, according to the New York Daily News, police used pepper spray to break up the fight when it spilled outside of the Atlanta Civic Center, where the ceremony was held. All this talk of vomit and melees and Jack White anger is really depressing. So let’s discuss something nice: the wedding of Stanley Tucci and Felicity Blunt, sister of Emily Blunt. The couple had already married privately but celebrated with a more formal wedding in London on Saturday. Emily Blunt was bridesmaid. Steve Buscemi was best man. Meryl Streep, John Krasinski (Emily Blunt’s husband), Patricia Clarkson, Julianne Moore and Colin Firth were all there. And their cake was made out of cheese. I mean, really. That’s pretty much the best. (People)

“Hotel Transylvania” — which features Adam Sandler as the voice of Dracula and Selena Gomez as the voice of his daughter, who looks a lot like Winona Ryder’s character in “Beetlejuice” — was the No. 1 movie at the box office and set a record for most money made during a September debut, assuming you don’t account for inflation. Yesterday marked the 30th anniversary of “Cheers.” So if you haven’t read GQ’s awesome history of perhaps the best NBC comedy ever, carve out some time to do so now. (GQ)
