Arnold Schwarzenegger wears ill-advised ‘I survived Maria’ T-shirt

So what possessed Schwarzenegger to go out biking over the weekend — as Gawker notes — wearing a T-shirt that said “I Survived Maria”?

TMZ captured photos of the fomer Governor of California in Santa Monica wearing the shirt, which apparently was originally given as a gag gift from Shriver’s staff to Schwarzenegger’s staff at the end of the governor’s time in office.

The years originally written on the shirt reflect the years of his second term, the one to which voters elected him without all that pesky recall business: 2007-2010. But Schwarzenegger crossed out the 2007 and wrote in 1977, a reference to the years he spent with Shriver.

Really, is there any way that this — see photos — could have possibly seemed like a good idea for even two seconds?
