Letting audiences know how long they have until the band takes the stage is a really great idea.

Ashley Judd: I’ve been on steroids for sinus infection and flu

Ashley Judd has been the subject of some not-so-nice Internet speculation over the past few days, owing to some puffiness in her face.

Radar Online took the liberty of enlisting a plastic surgeon who has never met the actress to say things like, “I am flabbergasted that she appears to have changed her face like this.” Judd’s face also inspired snarky sentences like, “I believe this is called ‘Billy Crystal-ing’ your face.”

But now the actress’s rep has explained the reason behind the change in her appearance — and it’s really nothing to joke about.

Judd’s rep told E!, “Ashley has been battling an ongoing, serious sinus infection and flu. Therefore, Ashley has been on a heavy dose of medication to overcome it so she could get on a plane and travel to Toronto and New York to fulfill her commitment of completing four consecutive days of press to promote her new show, ‘Missing.’”

Indeed, Judd has been on a press tour for the new ABC show, which The Post’s Hank Stuever called “a fairly stylish and almost gleefully trite thriller straight out of airport-world.”

Of the treatment for her illness, Judd tweeted, “steriods r dramatic. My clothes don't fit right, hard on a girl's self esteem, so lots of positive self talk & love.”

This tweet was a reply to a young lady who said she quit school after she gained weight from taking the medication prednisone and was subsequently teased by her classmates. Feels like there’s a lesson somewhere in this whole thing, don’t you think?
