Backstreet Boys/New Kids on the Block vs. the Go-Go’s: Dueling morning show concerts

Last week the “Today” show and “Good Morning America” scheduled Rihanna (“Today”) and Lady Gaga (GMA) opposite each other on their respective summer concert series.

This week, the battle of the similar musical artists theme was in effect again, as retro boy bands New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys took the “Today” stage and ‘80s female rockers the Go-Go’s performed on GMA.

Personally, I’m partial to the Go-Go’s (may be showing my age there) but will concede that the NKOTB/Backstreet Boys combo may have been a little more polished. Though, clearly, not as rock ’n’ roll.

Watch clips from their performances below and after the jump, then assess them yourselves.

“Our Lips Are Sealed” (side note: “Are you guys ready to rock right now?” might top the list of things George Stephanopoulos probably shouldn’t say):

When she isn’t at a movie theater or writing about movies, Jen Chaney is ... um ... probably at home, watching a movie.
