Beyonce’s ‘Run the World (Girls)’ video premieres

The highly anticipated video for Beyonce’s new single “Run the World (Girls)” debuted Wednesday night on “American Idol,” featuring the flashy costumes and insane dance moves we’ve come to expect from the diva.

In a very dusty future, fearless girl leader Beyonce uses the nonviolent tactic of dance to fight off some bad guys in riot gear. The singer’s tough alter ego, Sasha Fierce, is out in full force as she uses an army of swiveling and shimmying women, her middle finger and two hyenas on leashes to keep control of a post-apocalyptic society.

If some of Bey’s moves look familiar, it’s because they were borrowed with permission from Mozambican kwaito dance group Tofo Tofo, which appears in the video alongside Beyonce.

Would you let Beyonce and her girls run the world after watching this video? I certainly would.
