Although Natalie Portman won the Oscar for “Black Swan” in February, the controversy over who did most of the film’s dancing — and whether or not Portman deserved the prize — is still going on. Sarah Lane, the ballerina who served as Portman’s dance double, tells Elizabeth Vargas on tonight’s “20/20” that she doesn’t take issue with Portman’s Oscar win, but rather the campaign to make it seem like she became a professional ballerina in one year:
“They’re trying to create this image — this facade really — that Natalie had done something extraordinary, something that’s pretty much impossible.”
As a person who regularly Googles “Am I too old to become a professional ballerina?” this is kind of heartbreaking news.
