The first trailer for the long delayed horror flick “The Cabin in the Woods” has been released. Stop me if you’ve heard this one...
A couple of good looking young’uns — including “Thor’s” Chris Hemsworth — go to the woods to spend their vacation at a super creepy cabin. Their partying is soon interrupted by an unknown evil force that, presumably, wants to maim and kill them.
But the film, written by Joss Whedon and “Cloverfield’s” Drew Goddard, is meant to turn these cliches on their heads. The first posters for the film from way back in 2009 had slogans like “If something is chasing you... split up” and “If an old man warns you not to go there... make fun of him.”
The trailer mixes this time-honored horror setup with some pretty cool sci-fi elements (and some spoilers.) The biggest mystery of the clip? The whereabouts of Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford, the top listed actors on the film’s IMDB page. All will be revealed, we hope, in April 2012.
Watch the trailer, which is NSFW if you scare pretty easily (guilty!), below.
