Cali Swag District rapper M-Bone, who was born Mante Ray Talbert, was killed Sunday night in a drive-by shooting, according to Inglewood, Calif., police.

Lt. James Madia said M-Bone was sitting in a car outside an Inglewood liquor store when another car pulled alongside. Shots were fired, and the 22-year-old rapper was struck twice in the head. The other car fled the scene, police said, and the motive is currently under investigation.

In a statement, the members of Cali Swag District called M-Bone “an inspiration to his family, friends and fans. He was a hardworking, passionate artist and dancer that will be deeply missed.” They asked anyone with information about the killing to contact the Inglewood Police Department.

Smoove, a member of the rap group, tweeted, “Ma life changed drastically in the. Blink of an eye rip mbone.” Young Money artist Lil Twist sent this message via Twitter: “Got the homie and his family in my prayers!! To the whole crew keep y’all heads up!” Rapper the Game asked, “Can I get a moment of silence for the lil homie M-Bone R.I.P. from Cali Swag District. A kid Gunned down in the streets of Los Angeles SMH.”

Cali Swag District’s “Teach Me How to Dougie” was a huge hit last year, inspiring a dance that was recently done by first lady Michelle Obama.
