Celebritology 101: Pop Quiz

Who is the smartest celeb of them all... today?

a. Eric McCormack , who has handily prevented any chance of future TV mediocrity by actually choosing to avoid sitcom work now that his eight-season (syndicated) run with "Will & Grace" has come to an end.

b. Meredith Vieira , who recently called "The View" a "joke" and says she no longer watches now that she is moving on to co-host the "Today" show.

c. Every D-list celebrity and rusty musician who chose NOT to participate in " Celebrity Duets ."

d. Paris Hilton, just because.

Your answer: ________________

(Answer key after the jump)

Correct Answer: a, Eric McCormack. Despite some encouraging progress made by Julia-Louis Dreyfus, McCormack learned a valuable lesson from other recent must-see-TV sitcom alums who can't seem to get past their earlier success to build a new audience (See Alexander, Jason; Kudrow, Lisa; LeBlanc, Matt).

Why not b, Meredith Vieira? Because the rest of us knew "The View" was a joke quite some time ago. Star Jones Reynolds-gate and soon-to-be-"Viewer" Rosie O'Donnell's Web whining only make the punchline that much sadder.

Why not c, D-list celebs and rusty singers? Because option c was merely filler and it doesn't take much of an IQ to run screaming from any show that would dare to possibly pair Alfonso Ribiero with Kenny Loggins (And yes, I'm already sickeningly fascinated with this show).

Why not d, Paris Hilton? Surely, you jest.
