Charice Pempengco, best known for her role as the big-voiced Sunshine Corazon on “Glee,” has lost her estranged father to tragedy.

Ricky Pempengco, 40, was allegedly stabbed to death at a grocery store in the Philippines, the Associated Press reports. His murder appears to be random. The suspected killer is still at large, and a reward is being offered for information.

The 19-year-old singer informed her fans on Twitter that she would not be performing with her mentor, producer David Foster, in Singapore.

“I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year,” she tweeted. Charice also told her Twitter followers that she and her father used to have “a great relationship.”

“I loved him and I will still love him. He's still my Dad after all.”

Charice rose to fame after her performances from a Philippines “American Idol” style show were posted YouTube. She was invited to perform on the “Ellen Degeneres” show and became an Oprah Winfrey favorite. She had a recurring role on “Glee” during its second season, but will not return to the show.
