Cher defends Chaz Bono against ‘DWTS’ attacks; Steven Seagal sued over puppy, rooster deaths

Cher comes to son Chaz Bono’s defense on Twitter after “Dancing With the Stars” fans directed mean-spirited online comments at the transgender contestant. “lovelies! Chaz is Being Viciously Attacked on Blogs & Message boards about being on DWTS! This is Still America right ? It took guts 2 do it,” she tweeted. (Us)

An Arizona man is suing Steven Seagal and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department for allegedly raiding his home illegally. Jesus Sanchez Llovera says Seagal — who joined police during the raid, which was taped for the reality show, “Steven Segal Lawman” — caused the deaths of 100 roosters and a puppy during the incident, which was supposed to shut down Llovera’s cockfighting operation. Llovera says he only raised roosters for show. He’s seeking $100,000 in damages. (TMZ)

People sold 1.5 million copies of its Kim Kardashian wedding issue , a 31 percent increase over their the magazine’s current sales average. But that may not have been enough to make back the $1.5 million the publication spent to purchase the rights to the photos from the Kardashian/Kris Humphries nuptials. (Hollywood Reporter)

The Wahlberg brothers — most likely minus Mark — may do a reality show focused on their soon-to-launch, geniusly named burger joint, Wahlburger’s. (E! Online)

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” will premiere as scheduled, in re-edited fashion, on Sept. 5. The network announced that it will air suicide prevention PSAs to raise awareness in light of Russell Armstrong’s death . Armstrong’s mother, John Ann Hotchkiss, says she hopes the program will “keep it tasteful.” “Let’s not murder my son twice,” she said in a statement. (TV Column; E! Online)
