Clarice Taylor of ‘The Cosby Show’ has died

Clarice Taylor — the actress and comedian best known for playing Anna Huxtable, the grandmother on “The Cosby Show” — has died at the age of 93.

Taylor died earlier this week of congestive heart failure, according to an obituary in the L.A. Times.

During the run of “The Cosby Show,” Taylor played Anna Huxtable, doting grandmother to the Huxtable children and no-nonsense mother to Bill Cosby’s Heathcliff Huxtable. During her career, she also did theater, co-starred in the Clint Eastwood movie “Play Misty for Me” and appeared in another recurrent grandmotherly role on “Sesame Street,” where she was grandmother to the character David.

Speaking with the L.A. Times, Cosby called Taylor “perfect” in her role as his mom, adding that she looked “young enough to play my sister.”

Watch the Cosby kids pay tribute to their grandmother and grandfather in the classic “Cosby Show” moment below.
