How is Madonna's adopted son doing? -- Submitted during last week's Celebritology Live discussion
All outward indications point to a thriving David Banda, the now two-year-old Malawian Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie added to their family in October 2006. In fact, British tabloids reported last week that the Malawi government official charged with monitoring Madge and David has recommended that the singer be granted full custody of Banda, writing: "Mrs. Ritchie presents a confident and able parent. There are clear indications that David is becoming a happy, secure toddler. It is in the best interest of the child to remain in her care."
In fact, Madonna, Ritchie, daughter Lourdes (11), son Rocco (7) and Banda spent the New Year holiday celebrating the good news at a palatial Indian resort.
On a personal note, Celebritology has been variously accused of being vapid drivel, lowering the dialogue and taking our attention away from important news, like this. But just tell that to this Celebritology reader, whose life has been impacted by the dialogue we've opened up about one extremely important issue:
We've reached a milestone in my house. My husband bought his first pair of non-pleated pants recently. He is very thin and insists that he needs the pleats so as not to look like a famine victim. I did mention the chat comments about pleats, and suddenly he was able to find a pair of non-pleated pants that were baggy enough. Liz, I don't know if I owe this to you, but I'm sure mentioning the chat helped. So thank you.
No, thank you anonymous poster for bravely sharing your husband's triumph over adversity and years of programmed reliance on extraneous folds of fabric. We salute you.

"Motto for New York needs to be changed to I Love New York (State)/(City) because it's obvious no one loves New York (skank)." -- Pnina comments on last Tuesday's Morning Mix
Note: Sad to say there were no standout entries in last week's Creative Captioning contest. Perhaps the picture wasn't that inspiring or maybe the Diane Keaton hate is played out or we're just unable to honestly poke fun at Katie Holmes. Whatever the case, better luck (for all of us) next time.
