Cyndi Lauper recently joined the list of celebrities who have flubbed the national anthem in a public venue.
Before a semi-finals U.S. Open match, during a 9/11 commemoration no less, the singer followed the line, “O'er the ramparts we watched,” with, “as our flag was still streaming,” as opposed to, “were so gallantly streaming.”
Lauper is not the first person, famous and otherwise, to give a somehow embarrassing performance of the song. And from the mistakes of these Americans comes Popdust’s national anthem, a mash-up of terrible renditions from Christina Aguilera, Roseanne, Maya Rudolph on “Saturday Night Live,” Fergie and some regular Joes.
Watch and cringe.
