‘Dark Knight Rises’ shooting leaves at least a dozen dead; Fred Willard’s lawyer wants to clear actor’s name

At least a dozen people are reportedly dead after a mass shooting occurred overnight during a suburban Denver screening of “ The Dark Knight Rises .” According to the BBC, 50 people were injured during the incident, in which a gunman wearing a gas mask went on a shooting rampage in the movie theater. Some reports indicate a smoke bomb may have gone off, and that the violence began during a shooting scene in the movie, which led some audience members to think it was part of the movie. Fred Willard’s lawyer released a statement stating that the actor’s arrest for alleged lewd conduct was all a misunderstanding. “Our belief is that Fred did nothing in any violation of any law,” Paul Takakjian said in the statement to TMZ. “We will be working vigorously to clear his name in this matter.” (TMZ)

Katie Holmes has signed on to star in a Broadway production of the play “Dead Accounts.” It will mark a return to the Great White Way for the ex-wife of Tom Cruise, who last appeared there in 2008’s “All My Sons.” (Associated Press)
