Davy Jones remembered by fellow Monkees; Target pulls Whitney Houston greeting card

Davy Jones , the singer and star of “The Monkees” who died Tuesday, has been remembered by his former bandmates.

Monkees member Peter Tork released a statement on Facebook: “It is with great sadness that I reflect on the sudden passing of my long-time friend and fellow-adventurer, David Jones. His talent will be much missed; his gifts will be with us always.” Monkees drummer and vocalist Micky Dolenz told the “Today” show’s Ann Curry, “He was always the go-to guy for fun and a laugh. ... He was a jokester and always was.”(Entertainment Weekly; Today)

Target has pulled a greeting card that has a distasteful message about the late Whitney Houston on it. The card reads, “Next time you think of dating the bad boy, consider Whitney Houston. That’s all I’m going to say.” The superstore chain said in a statement, “It is never our intent to offend guests with the products we offer.” (AP; TMZ)
