Derek Bieber, Justin’s alter-ego, takes over Twitter

Back in 2010, Twitter adjusted the algorithm of its Trending Topics feature to effectively ban the name “Justin Bieber” from making the list every single day.

But it seems Beliebers are a crafty group of tweens. They have now righted the social media snub by capitalizing on a joke Justin Bieber made to TMZ: “I’m famous? I'm a celebrity? I didn’t even realize. ... My name’s Derek, I don’t know what you guys are talking about.”

And guess what? “Derek Bieber” became a trending topic on Twitter.
