Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in “Dumb and Dumber.”
(New Line Cinema)
Wednesday we learned, via Entertainment Tonight, that Jim Carrey had dropped out of a planned sequel to “Dumb and Dumber” that would have reunited him with his original co-star Jeff Daniels.
The actor’s rep confirmed the report to Entertainment Weekly, saying Carrey had become “increasingly frustrated” by Warner Brothers’ and New Line’s lack of interest in the project.
Does this mean the film is essentially dead, wondered interested parties? Sorry, fans of Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, the answer is yes.
When asked about a sequel by “Access Hollywood,” Daniels said “as we stand here today it’s not happening.”
The “Newsroom” star continued, “I’m disappointed we’re not doing it, but I think the guy who’s really the most disappointed is Jim. He really wanted to do it.”
Watch Daniels speak to “Access” below.
