Remember last week when Will Smith posted a picture of himself with some of his “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” castmates on Facebook with the caption, “there’s nothin’ like spending Holidays with fam”? And everyone was like, “Man, the ’90s were great!” and, “Wouldn’t it be awesome if the gang got back together for a reunion episode?”
Well, here’s something that will sour that perfect moment of nostalgia. Consider it a late piece of Christmas coal in your good feeling stocking.
Janet Hubert, the first actress to play Aunt Vivian, told TMZ that she’s unwilling to take part in any type of reunion due to her very strong dislike of Smith.
“He is still an egomaniac and has not grown up. This constant reunion thing will never ever happen in my lifetime unless there is an apology, which he doesn’t know the word,” she said.
This is not the first time Hubert, who was replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid after the show’s third season, has aired her grievances about the rapper-turned-actor. In her 2009 book, “Perfection Is Not a Sitcom Mom,” Hubert claims that Smith was arrogant and jealous of anyone who was too talented.
Smith has not commented on Hubert’s latest statement, but he reportedly once told a radio station, “She’s mad now but she’s been mad all along. She said once, ‘I’ve been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.’ No matter what, to her I’m just the antichrist.”
