Game changer: Lindsay Lohan has endorsed Mitt Romney

Lindsay Lohan: Romney support ... for now. (Jonathan Aloorn - Reuters)

Well, presidential candidate Mitt Romney has finally done it. He’s captured the important Lindsay Lohan vote.

At the Mr. Pink Ginseng drink launch party — a classic place to announce political endorsements — Lindsay Lohan told reporters that she plans to vote for Romney ... unless she changes her mind. At least that’s my interpretation of her words, which according to E!, Us Weekly and other outlets were: “I just think employment is really important right now. So, as of now, [I’m voting for] Mitt Romney. As of now.”

This extremely important, election-altering news comes a month after Lohan tweeted to President Obama and asked him to cut taxes for “those that are listed on Forbes as millionaires” in addition to the middle class. So really, we should have seen this coming, even though Lohan supported Obama in the 2008 presidential election.

We also should have seen this coming, because Lohan tweeted a teaser about her endorsement earlier this week.

So what made Lohan throw her allegiance behind Romney, apart from the fact that she thinks it’s good for America as well as Mr. Pink’s Ginseng beverage, which is obviously super-refreshing in a nonpartisan way and getting a ton of free press out of this?

“It's a long story, but you're going to have to wait for that,” she told reporters at the event.

Two parting thoughts about this development.

1. Even though this whole thing is uber-ridiculous, it’s nice to see Lohan in the headlines for something that doesn’t involve catfights with her mother or cell phone arguments in hotels.

2. Lohan has switched her hair color to a darker auburn, which looks much more flattering than the blondish-tones she sported before. Also: It’s really red now. Red, like for the Republicans? Get it?

So, in conclusion: “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose Lohan.”
